The Jon C Burr Foundation developed the short documentary Hidden Pain: America's Oral Health Crisis, which addresses the pain, suffering and enormous cost to the American people of not providing access to Oral Healthcare. The film has been distributed to dental schools, community centers, churches and legislative offices in order to educate the public and encourage action.
Both members of the OPEN Oral Health Equity Network, The Jon C. Burr Foundation and Lunder-Dineen Health Education Alliance of Maine partnered to create a companion guide to support the distribution of this documentary and continue the important work toward providing access to oral health care.

“In the last few years, we have learned new frightening information. Research now documents that poor oral health contributes to a long list of senior’s health issues including Alzheimer’s, Heart disease, diabetes, and pneumonia, and in some cancers. In addition, it is also important to acknowledge that the emotional and social aspects of poor health clearly impede our ability to find work and create healthy personal relationships. The Jon C. Burr Foundation believes health care is a right, not a privilege and that our current system is morally compromised.”
-Betty Pebbles, President of the Jon C. Burr Foundation
