Maria C. Dolce, PhD, RN, CNE


Associate Professor, State University of New York at Stony Brook

Dr. Dolce is Associate Professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a recognized expert in interprofessional health education and collaborative practice. Prior to joining Stony Brook University, Dr. Dolce was Associate Professor of Nursing at Northeastern University and Executive Director of Innovations in Interprofessional Oral Health, a three-year project funded by the DentaQuest Foundation, aimed at integrating oral health into interprofessional health education and promoting oral health in primary care and community-based practice settings. Dr. Dolce was the former Program Director for New York University College of Nursing’s national initiative on oral health nursing education and practice, where she also served as coordinator for nursing education graduate programs.

Dr. Dolce earned her BS, MA, and PhD degrees from New York University. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and holds certifications in nursing administration and education. Her clinical appointments include NYU-Langone Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in New York. Dr. Dolce holds an appointment as Faculty Nurse Scientist at The Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Dolce’s scholarship focuses on improving oral health for vulnerable and underserved populations. She represents the nursing profession on the Steering Committee of Smiles for Life: A National Oral Health Curriculum, is a Scientific Advisory Board Member of the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, and a member of the Oral Health 2020 National Oral Health Connection Team sponsored by the DentaQuest Foundation.
